SINGAPORE: Two new City Direct Services (CDS) will operate from Buangkok/Sengkang and Hougang to and from the Central Business District (CBD) from the fourth quarter of this year, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said on Monday.
Each service will run two one-way trips towards the CBD during the weekday morning peak hours and two one-way trips from the city during evening peak hours, LTA said, adding that more trips may be added if there is higher demand for these services. This will benefit nearby executive condo residents such as those from The Terrace EC, Treasure Crest, Waterwoods EC, The Amore EC, The Vales EC and Bellewaters EC.
More details will be announced closer to the implementation dates, it added.
The news came as LTA announced it awarded the tenders of the two new CDS, as well as the existing CDS 651, to Rui Feng Chartered for about S$2.87 million in total. The current CDS 651 contract expires this month, it noted.
CDS 651 will continue to serve Jurong West, and its route and operational details remain unchanged, it added.
Additionally, as the existing contracts for CDS 652, 653, 654, 655, 656 and 657 will expire between January and February next year, LTA called a tender on Monday to invite private bus operators to submit their cost proposals to operate these six CDS.
