Sea Horizon EC Residents to Benefit from Pasir Ris First Hawker Centre

SINGAPORE – A new two-storey hawker centre in Pasir Ris is expected to be completed by the first half of 2017, according to a statement from the National Environment Agency (NEA). Nearby residents such as those from Sea Horizon EC (executive condo) would have more choices of food when it is completed.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the “Pasir Ris Central Hawker Centre” was held on Sunday morning, attended by Mr Teo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister and MP for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC and Mr Zainal bin Sapari, MP for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC.

The new centre will offer 45 cooked food stalls to cater to the dining needs of Pasir Ris residents. It will be the first hawker centre in Pasir Ris Town, and will be located within the existing Pasir Ris Town Park.

According to the NEA, patrons and park-users will enjoy car and bicycle parking facilities provided at the centre.

The multi-storey carpark located above the hawker centre will have 115 parking lots, along with 60 bicycle parking lots for the convenience of cyclists visiting the hawker centre.

The planning of the hawker centre took into consideration the new extended cycling path network around Pasir Ris Town, and part of this new cycling path will lead cyclists right up to the hawker centre.

Located within walking distance from the Pasir Ris MRT station, there will be more than 800 seats at the new 3,000sqm centre.

The stalls and dining area will be arranged in a singular fan-shaped profile facing the Pasir Ris Town Park, and feature high ceilings to maximise the potential of natural ventilation.

Exhibition panels featuring the layout, artist’s impressions and diagrams of the new hawker centre and its amenities are currently on display at the Pasir Ris Sports and Recreation Centre. The exhibition is open to the public till July 21, 2015.
