Sembawang executive condo residents such as those from Skypark Residences and nearby The Brownstone EC , The Visionaire EC and Signature At Yishun EC can now enjoy a new Integrated Community Garden launched in Sembawang Sunday morning (Nov 1) in line with the Republic’s vision of a “City in a Garden”.
The 400-square metre Montreal Integrated Community Garden features various fresh vegetables, herbs and spices, including custard apple and Barbados cherry, which are unique to Singapore. The garden also incorporates the “kampong element” with open-air classrooms for neighbouring schools and childcare centres to utilise.
Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan, who’s also MP for Sembawang GRC, graced the event by planting a tree. He then toured the garden and health exhibits with about 200 residents.
The event is held in-conjunction with Clean & Green Singapore 2015.
The Community Garden concept was first formed in January 2010 to develop and foster community gardening interest. In the past five years, residents have been chipping in with various ideas and even taken ownership of the garden.
